Detailed Job Description

Under the direction of the Catering Manager assist in the management of all suspects of the Catering Department. Coordinates the duties of the Catering Office consultants. Responsible for the functional needs of the catering office which may include hiring, training, and the evaluation of student catering employees. Assists in coordinating client requests for successful completion of scheduled special events. Assumes catering responsibilities in the absence of the catering manager.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline plus two years of staff level experience in Summary of Duties or equivalent education and experience totaling six years.


Knowledge of catering event staffing needs.
Knowledge of marketing strategies, processes, and available resources.
Knowledge of institutional policies and/or staff hiring procedures.
Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services needed in event preparation and inventory control.


Skill in employee development and performance management.
Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policies, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
Skill in the use of computers, preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating environment.


Ability to develop and maintain record keeping systems and procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to plan a variety of menus.
Ability to supervise and train employees,including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
Ability to analyze event requests and to assess catering product and equipment requirements.
Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.

Pay Range

$10.54 to $13.17 per hour
