Detailed Job Description

Under the direction of the Associate Dean of University College, the Math Lab Coordinator will provide vision, direction, and strategic planning; project and track budget expenditures; hire, train, schedule, and evaluate tutors; manage daily operations and delivery of services; develop and oversee marketing efforts; coordinate services with faculty members; and carry out assessment related to the Math Lab.
Essential Functions, Major Duties, and/or Accountabilities:
-Provide vision, direction, and strategic planning.
-Manage a math tutoring program serving students in math/statistics courses by providing one-on-one tutoring, online tutoring, and related support materials.
-Supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate part-time employees to provide effective tutoring.
-Develop student workshops and other supplemental learning/tutoring systems including online delivery.
-Coordinate with faculty, tutors, students, and other learning assistance programs to promote and enhance the program.
-Regularly assess services and make improvements based on findings. -Forecast and manage allotted budget based on staffing needs and student usage.
-Attend Developmental Math and Math Department meetings to understand procedures and communicate program needs and goals.
-Develop familiarity with the content of all math courses.
-Teach a math course for the Developmental Math or Math Department as assigned in order to be more fully integrated with faculty and students from both departments.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with a master's degree in Mathematics and one year of teaching or professional experience; OR a bachelor's in Mathematics and three years of experience as described above.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

-Knowledge of subject matter and content of math courses.
-Knowledge of learning styles, tutoring methods, and educational objectives.
-Interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
-Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
-Ability to follow written and oral procedures and instructions.
-Ability to manage a tutorial laboratory and have skill in tutoring.
-Ability to supervise.
