Detailed Job Description
The IT Technical Specialist III performs advanced professional IT activities for a specialized, complex assignment or functional area requiring application of an advanced professional knowledge of IT principles, practices, and procedures. Requires evaluation, originality or ingenuity. May supervise and/or direct the work of project teams or other lower level staff.
Additional Department Summary:
Under general supervision, interprets and develops functional requirements as they relate to user requests for system enhancements, determine and accommodate the impact of various system changes on users, and troubleshoot various problems and respond to user department needs. Responsible for maintenance, upgrades, testing EMR modifications and development, custom reporting for the enterprise to departments and agencies. This employee owns the responsibility of maintaining NextGen, interfaces, SQL database. This will include EPM, EMR, and ICS.
Must be able to interact with all level of users throughout the organization to clarify and verify requirements at all stages of analysis, design, and implementation. Work with NextGen to prioritize, test and implement requested software enhancements and fixes. Maintain detailed documentation articulating user enhancement requests. Works with IT team members in developing solutions that are cost-effective, efficient and focused for the practice(s) involved.Works with the EHR Team to implement solutions. Facilitates the creative use of various software, including NextGen, through re-engineering.Obtain and maintain NextGen NCP certifications in all U of A required disciplines.
Will work with the NextGen Systems Director/Administrator to evaluate and review the effectiveness of the system on a routine basis to identify areas appropriate for improvement.Works with the NextGen Systems Director/Administrator in the planning for, building, testing of, and implementation of periodic enhancements to all NextGen modules. Will inform the NextGen Systems Director/Administrator of patches, or changes to the system prior to implementation and will provide appropriate documentation of system updates. Assists those affected in incorporating changes into their workflow.
Ability to keep abreast of emerging technologies and software in the Healthcare Information Systems industry. Capable of evaluating new technologies as appropriate. Instrumental in the implementation of new technologies.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree and 2 years professional IT experience, OR Masters degree in related field, OR any equivalent combination of experience, training, education and/or certification from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been obtained. Knowledge of advanced programming, networking, system, multimedia, instructional technology skills or project management methods and applications. May require intermediate or advanced level training or certification.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications:
Must have a working knowledge of a clinical Electronic Medical Record (EHR) system. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel.
NextGen EHR experience preferred.
58 Monthly (exempt): - Minimum - $ 37065.60 Midpoint - $ 53747.16
