Detailed Job Description

Oversee and manage the daily office functions of a fast-paced medical service where sudden change in patient conditions and emergencies may occur. Support the provision of care and services under the direction of the Director, according to the Mission and Values of Health Services and Rhode Island School of Design, by assisting students in the access of needed services. Manage the flow of information between Health Services and the College community. Serve as point person for implementing, maintaining, evaluating and upgrading the electronic medical record system.  


Ability to convey calm demeanor under urgent/emergent conditions. Ability to communicate and respond effectively to directions under stressful/urgent conditions. BA/BS or equivalent combination of education and experience in a medical office setting or health services environment required. Prior supervisory experience preferred. Demonstrated proficiency with EMR systems required. Knowledge of web based and office management computer software is essential. Facility with computer technology, and high level of proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office programs, including, but not limited to Word, Excel, Power Point, and Access. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills and the ability to exercise discretion. Ability to work with multiple, diverse populations and maintain confidentiality. Understanding of medical terminology. Must be detailed oriented and be able to build and maintain positive relationship with both internal and external communities. Ability to communicate clearly and accurately and to convey messages in a succinct manner.
