DEAN OF ACADEMIC INNOVATIONS AND ALTERNATIVE STUDIES: Academic and Student Affairs, Haverhill/Lawrence Campus. Non-unit Professional Position. Anticipated start date: November 2014.
The Dean of Academic Innovations and Alternative Studies reports to the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs. S/he is responsible for facilitating the exploration, development, and implementation of modes of education beyond traditional classroom and existing online courses, particularly aimed at students who face substantial obstacles to access to a college education. This could include self-paced, competency-based, and new types of online courses as well as other non-traditional approaches. The Dean will focus on program and business development and the associated academic, accreditation, budgetary, contractual, marketing, regulatory, and technological challenges. S/he will work closely with college faculty, academic administrators, student support service professionals, the Professional Development Center, and other partners.
A Master’s Degree in Education or other relevant discipline. Substantial program development experience—including working with academic, student support, business, marketing, contractual, and regulatory aspects—in a higher education institution. Experience with non-traditional forms of higher education, including online learning. Teaching experience at the college level. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Flexibility, adaptability, and attention to detail. High energy and ability to multitask. Demonstrated ability to contribute positively to a diverse, multi-ethnic, multi-cultural student/faculty population and campus environment. Commitment to the comprehensive community college mission.
A Doctorate degree in Education or other relevant discipline. Experience in a community college, particularly in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts system. Knowledge of alternative learning modalities and emerging education technologies. History of building faculty teams dedicated to increasing access and improving student learning. Bilingual (Spanish/English).

SALARY: $85,000.00 – $100,000.00 annually with complete fringe benefit package. Actual salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
