Part-Time Professional Language Arts Tutor (Career Development Counselor)


The after-school tutoring center seeks creative and knowledgeable part-time Professional Language Arts Tutors to provide academic support for our diverse middle school and high school students.  The Professional Tutor provides individual and small group support to both middle and high school aged students by appointment.   The after-school tutoring center is a new service designed to provide academic tutoring for young students.

POSITION REPORTS TO: Program Manager, Community Education and Training


  • Tutor/assist students with language arts concepts.
  • Encourage students to develop a systematic approach to studying that will serve them throughout their educational path.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with and between students, parents and Program Manager.
  • Assume classroom management duties.
  • Attend training sessions and meetings, if necessary.
  • Perform other duties consistent with the position of a Professional Tutor.

A Professional Tutor must be certified by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in Middle School Language Arts and High School Language Arts.

A Professional Tutor should also have tutoring experience and/or experience in the field of education.

The individual must possess the ability to work with students, staff, and faculty, of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, racial and ethnic backgrounds, including those with different levels of academic preparation and varying physical and learning abilities.

LOCATION:  Bedford Campus

HOURS:  Positions are non-benefited, approximately 3:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursdays for the fall semester with hours increasing during the spring semester.

SALARY: $25.06/hour

STARTING DATE:  Early November
