Detailed Job Description
The White Family Clinical Faculty in Entrepreneurship is viewed as one of the Institute for Entrepreneurship's master entrepreneurs-in-residence. The person who occupies this endowed position is responsible for bringing a practitioner's perspective to the Institute and has a transformational impact on the program.
The White Family Clinical Faculty in Entrepreneurship will be responsible for: Teaching two to three classes per semester in the entrepreneurship curriculum; serving as an advisor and mentor to students and others who seek the Institute's assistance with their businesses; contributing to the national reputation of the Institute for Entrepreneurship; building a network of regional and national entrepreneurs to participate in Institute of Entrepreneurship programs; assisting in the design and implementation of courses, programs and activities that support the Institute's strategic plan; serving as a resource to the regional business community; involvement in the university community.
A master's degree in business or a related discipline; three years of teaching experience at Miami University (within the last five years); not less than ten years of experience in the private sector, preferably within a entrepreneurial growth company; participation in the start-up and growth of one or more private-sector companies as an owner, major investor or professional service provider (e.g., lawyer, financial broker); demonstrated commitment to life-long learning through continuing education or professional development courses; demonstrated appreciation for the culture and procedures associated with an academic institution; ability to develop resources (financial and in-kind) to support the Institute programs.
Ph.D. in business or related discipline; excellence in teaching entrepreneurship courses serving as visiting faculty or guest lecturer; expertise and practical experience in areas related to 1) creativity and imagination in the context of entrepreneurship; and/or 2) corporate entrepreneurship; previous teaching experience employing hands-on/experiential forms of teaching; advising experience for undergraduate business and non-business students; five years of Miami University teaching experience.
