Vice Chief of Education
The Doctor of Physical Therapy Division (DPT) at Duke University seeks to recruit a physical therapist with current educational leadership to join our expanding faculty, and to participate in the DPT executive committee as the Vice Chief of Education. The Vice Chief of Education will be a dynamic and engaging individual, who will join a progressive group of faculty who educate learners using a dynamic curriculum, which places emphasis on educational strategies including, but not limited to, Team-Based Learning (TBL). Qualified applicants must have an earned PhD, EdD, or equivalent and be eligible for licensure as a physical therapist in the state of North Carolina. Responsibilities will include instructional effort in courses for which the candidate is qualified, but the majority of work effort of the Vice Chief of Education is allocated to managing the structure and process related to the physical therapy curriculum, for executive oversight of the clinical education operation, and for assessing core faculty and clinical educators teaching outcomes. The Vice Chief of Education will also take ownership and integration over potentially new professional educational and continuing education offerings. Opportunity exists to collaborate with other local, national and global partners, along with colleagues in education, research and clinical practice within Duke University.
In addition to having a degree in physical therapy and an earned doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, or equivalent), the search committee seeks applicants from a diverse pool of candidates with the following additional qualifications or attributes:
The position is a 12-month appointment with salary and rank commensurate with qualification and experience. Candidates selected for an interview will be asked to prepare a 1-page vision statement for the future of physical therapy education, and a 5-year plan that outlines the candidate’s personal educational, research, and services milestones.
