RISD is committed to following best practices in matters of higher education governance. Our principal expectation for this position is to ensure that RISD's Board of Trustees operates at the highest levels of board governance. In addition, the holder of this position will: be responsible for coordinating, documenting, and implementing programs and projects for the Board of Trustees; serving as principal liaison for the Board of Trustees with the senior administration, faculty, student body, and alumni on matters of policy and procedure; designing and managing the systems that assure the security, accuracy and accessibility of the legal records of the Board; initiating actions and procedures to improve, strengthen and enhance the operations of the Board; and undertaking special assignments as directed by the President or Chair of the Board.  


Bachelor's degree and at least three years' experience supporting a Board preferably in a higher education environment. In-depth knowledge of and experience with governance and best practices. Strong strategic planning, project management, research, and organizational skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Professional attitude, integrity and ability to maintain confidential information. Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate on projects. Ability to thrive in fast paced environment, respond rapidly to changes in plans and schedules, and solve problems imaginatively. Knowledge of AGB best practices, policies and procedures. High level of functionality in the use of Microsoft Office programs, presentation software, Apple systems and the Google environment preferred. Willingness to learn new systems. Basic proficiency with A/V and remote meeting set-up.
