The Paul W. Bryant and Mary Harmon Bryant Endowed Professorship in Literacy
The College of Education at The University of Alabama invites applicants for the Paul W. Bryant and Mary Harmon Bryant Endowed Professorship in Literacy. The appointment of the Bryant Professor will carry an academic year appointment aimed at developing a research, teaching and service agenda that will bring fresh insight and support to the task of better understanding the problems confronting reading achievement and literacy development. The candidate is expected to attract graduate students, secure external funding, and help advance the College’s existing efforts in literacy. The teaching load is 1-1 and will include teaching graduate level seminars in the area of literacy expertise. The candidate’s research line can include work that cuts across a wide landscape of literacy concerns and research traditions, including but not necessarily exclusive to, neuroscience, language processing and development, reading disability, and applied literacy or reading intervention work. Full professors and mid-career associate professors with national reputations are encouraged to apply.
