Columbia College Chicago is an urban institution of over 11,000 undergraduate and graduate students emphasizing arts, media, and communications in a liberal arts setting.
The Office of the Provost is seeking applications for an Assistant Vice President for Budget Management.
Reporting to the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Assistant Vice President for Budget Management oversees the budgets for the three schools (School of Liberal Arts and Sciences, School of Media Arts, and School of Fine and Performing Arts), the Office of Academic Research (Library, Museum, and centers), and the Office of the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs with expense budgets totaling approximately $110 million.
Duties & Responsibilities
*Manage the annual budget process for Academic Affairs and the Provost's Office.
*Analyze budgets and advise units throughout the year.
*Manage the spring revision process.
*Create and communicate budget targets.
*Participate in contract negotiations for the part-time faculty union.
*Develop pricing structures for academic programs.
*Perform analyses of financial, budget, and human resources issues.
*Track personnel changes.
*Consult with the provost and deans about reductions, when necessary.
*Advise provost and deans on budget and finances.
*Attend Finance Committee meetings of the Board of Trustees when needed or to represent the provost.
*Work with Vice President of Business Affairs/CFO to plan budgets, align budgets, and manage expenses.
*Work with other vice presidents on special projects as requested.
*Work on various committees and task forces as assigned.
Minimum Education & Experience:
*Graduate degree in an appropriate area or equivalent professional experience.
*Understanding of budget processes, preferably within a higher education setting.
*Understanding of financial software and accounting processes.
*Highly developed financial and analytical abilities.
*Excellent communication skills.
*Ability to work collaboratively.
*Sense of humor.
