Detailed Job Description
The Director of Plumbing and Fire Protection Maintenance is responsible for the professional management of all functions related to the delivery of high quality plumbing and fire protection systems at The University of Alabama campus.
Additional Department Summary:
This position is responsible for the management of plumbing systems which includes but is not limited to the fabrication, installation, preventative maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems, mechanical piping systems, domestic water systems including domestic hot water heaters, steam systems, sanitary and storm sewer systems, irrigation systems, gas and compressed air systems, and thermal water piping systems.
This position is responsible for the management of fire protection systems which includes but is not limited to the installation, preventative maintenance, repair, inspection, and operational/functional testing of systems.
This position provides leadership to achieve operational effectiveness and increase productivity of the Facilities Plumbing Maintenance staff and the Facilities Fire Protection Maintenance staff. Implements diverse projects related to the repair, preventative maintenance, and installation of plumbing and fire protection systems and equipment. Oversees activities for the Facilities Plumbing and Fire Protection Maintenance Department related to budget preparation and administration, personnel staffing, and the procurement of supplies and equipment. Reviews and approves building and equipment drawings, specifications, and submittals. Inspects the installation and operation of plumbing and fire protection systems.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in an engineering field and seven years of experience in a leadership role within a facilities engineering, facilities management, or maintenance environment involving the maintenance and operation of plumbing and/or fire protection systems. Including at least two years of budget management experience, and a thorough knowledge of academic/office building systems and strategic planning.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications:
Must be willing to work long and/or unusual hours to include nights and weekends depending on the schedule of campus events. Valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age and have an acceptable motor vehicle report as determined by the insurance carrier. Final candidates who are not current University of Alabama employees must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.
61 Monthly (exempt): - Minimum - $ 57512.04 Midpoint - $ 82243.20
