Detailed Job Description

The Structural Building Engineer is responsible for developing plans and specs for projects and will serves as structural/building envelope advisor in the planning of the University's physical environment and the formulation of requirements for structures to be built or renovations to be made.

Additional Department Summary:

Advises departmental and administrative personnel in planning and construction procedures.-Coordinates and updates the maintenance of University drawings and specifications. -Maintains an active liaison with design professionals and members of construction industry in order to advise University officials of trends and/or ongoing efforts that could affect the design and/or construction process. -Develops and Maintains guidelines for exterior architectural and structural materials and design, and developing and maintaining standards for University construction. -Possess ability to communicate clearly to relate to users, administrators, design professionals, contractors, and staff members. -Completes building assessments as needed and assembles capital development plans for relative capital items. - Forensic Analysis

Required Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree or higher in Engineering, Architecture or Construction Management and three years of related work experience. Professional Engineer or Registered Architect in AL. Additional Required Department Summary: Requires experience in building envelope design/investigation and structural concrete design and repair on a variety of projects. Valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age and have an acceptable motor vehicle report as determined by the insurance carrier. Final candidates who are not current University of Alabama employees must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in performing Property Condition Assessments, directing/performing forensic investigations of concrete, roofing, exterior wall, and waterproofing failures including performing water tests of exterior wall components. Ability to prepare field and summary reports on construction projects. Ability to direct the development of plans and specifications related to the building envelope and structural design. Ph.D. is preferred. 61 Monthly (exempt): - Minimum - $ 58656.00 Midpoint - $ 85342.44
