Detailed Job Description
The IT Technical Specialist IV performs advanced IT
activities for specialized, complex and/or functional areas requiring the
expert knowledge and professional application of IT principles, practices and
techniques in accordance with industry standards and university policy.
Requires a great amount of evaluation, originality or ingenuity. May be
responsible for training, assisting or supervising lower level IT personnel and
other staff. May lead projects and cross-functional activities.
Additional Department Summary:
This position is responsible for building and managing
top-level institutional web sites and content that support and positively
impact the overall interactive communication strategies of the university. The
associate director of web communications is responsible for the day-to-day
operation and quality control of many top-level UA web sites, as well as
participating in the development and implementation of technical and content
strategies to support all web sites managed by the Office of Web
Communications. This position supports the director of web communications in
building and managing and effective, technologically-advanced, and
brand-appropriate web presence for UA. This position also serves as a project
manager for a variety of projects and initiatives, and is responsible for
evaluating work product and mentoring other Web Communications staff.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 3 years of professional
IT experience, OR Master's degree and 1 year of professional IT experience, OR
any equivalent combination of experience, training, education and/or
certification from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been
obtained. Knowledge of advanced programming, networking, system, multimedia,
instructional or security technology skills or knowledge of project management
methods and applications. May require advanced level training or certification.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications:
Working knowledge of
products, and image editing software. Demonstrated expertise in building and
maintaining websites, including thorough knowledge of valid HTML, CSS,
supports Internet communication. Strong graphic design skills. A
minimum of two years experience with Macromedia Dreamweaver, Microsoft Office
products, and image editing software.
Some experience with dynamic content design and development. Some experience with multimedia design and
deployment (Flash, Video, Audio).
and Knowledge:Ability to clearly convey messages through writing.
Superior file management and organizational skills. Ability to self-start with
little supervision. Strong project management skills. Good interpersonal skills
to include strong oral and written communications skills. Ability to think and
plan strategically as part of a team.
The incumbent must have a strong knowledge of laws and policies
governing Internet communications, including general copyright laws, standard
HTML protocols, database development techniques, web standards,
Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public
relations, or a related technical field; experience in web communications,
marketing, public relations or related experience. Knowledge of UA web policies and practices as
outlined by the UA Web Guide and UA Web Site Guidelines.
