Detailed Job Description

The Security Resources Assistant (SRA), with moderate supervision, provides security services to the University community by monitoring, receiving, processing, and responding to information dealing with physical security access control and safety issues.

Additional Department Summary:

This position will be assigned to work inside the central monitoring station, respond to alarms, receive and process requests from a variety of sources to include multiple telephone lines and radio frequencies for non-emergency assistance, operate various systems to update and retrieve data, maintain a variety of logs and files, assigned to respond to alarms, to physically and remotely secure and lock University facilities, and to provide safety assistance to the University community and visitors. The SRA will work evenings, nights, weekends and holiday hours.

Required Minimum Qualifications

High School Degree or GED and some work experience. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a daily basis. Must be able to work nights, weekends and holiday hours.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications:

Prior to a conditional job offer, Security Resources Assistant applicants must successfully complete the following: departmental interview with a multi-tasking test and read test component, criminal history check, and detailed background investigation. Upon conditional job offer, applicants must successfully complete a psychological profile and a training program followed by a 1040 hour probationary period. Final candidates who are not current University of Alabama employees must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen. Valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age and have an acceptable motor vehicle report as determined by the insurance carrier.

Prior to hiring, the final candidate(s) must successfully pass a pre-employment background investigation. A prior conviction reported as a result of the background investigation DOES NOT automatically disqualify a candidate from consideration for this position.
