Under the supervision of the Director of First-Year Experience and Student Retention, this position will be responsible for providing support and mentoring to UVU students. Collaborates and builds networking opportunities with UVU departments as well as faculty and staff to ensure appropriate services are provided for various cohorts of students. Tracks and monitors progress of cohort groups to ensure they receive appropriate support to enhance their ability to be successful and complete their intended degree.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree plus one year of experience related to the Summary of Duties or any combination of education and/or experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling five years.
Bachelor’s Degree and 1-3 years experience is preferred.
Knowledge of current trends and best practices in retention and completion programming, and strategies for student persistence.
Knowledge in current mentoring and coaching strategies for higher ed. students.
Knowledge of a variety of computer applications including Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Design Suite.
Skill in organizational, verbal, and written communication.
Skill in budget management.
Skill in interpersonal, problem-solving, decision-making, and public relations sufficient to work with and relate to a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff.
Ability to work in an office environment with minimum supervision.
Ability to supervise and train employees.
Ability to work with attention to detail, maturity, professional demeanor, tact, diplomacy, and a sense of humor.
Ability to collect and analyze data.
Ability to prioritize and to change priorities as needs arise.
