Detailed Job Description

Under the direction of the Chair of the Marketing Department in the Woodbury School of Business, will provide service to the university and community and uphold professional and ethical standards. Teaches undergraduate courses in business Communications. Preference will be given to candidates with a teaching interest in written management communication with knowledge of business topics and computer skills. Proof of good teaching and administrative skills are required. This documentation MUST be attached as Other (1) and Other (2). The position will primarily be one of teaching five classes of MGMT 2200 Written Communications each semester.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a doctorate degree in a related field to the coursework being taught or master’s degree plus two years of experience in a related discipline. Demonstrated successful teaching at the college or university level is required.

Preferred Qualifications

This position requires a master’s degree in Business Communications, Communications, Business, or English. M.B.A. degrees are preferred. Five years of industry and professional experience outside of the classroom is highly preferred. The selected candidate will begin in January 2015.


Knowledge of subject matter and course content of classes to be taught, instructional strategies, and techniques.
Knowledge of student management, motivation, and evaluation.
Knowledge of evaluation of instruction, curriculum development, program development and evaluation.
Knowledge of appropriate field of study.


Effective human relations skills and communication techniques.


Ability to apply effectively general principles to specific conditions.
Ability to follow written and verbal procedures and instructions.
Ability to work effectively with people.
