FULL-TIME DIRECTOR OF NURSING EDUCATION PROGRAM:  Division of Health Professions (Non-Unit Professional) Anticipated start date January 2, 2015. Lawrence Campus. Reports to the Dean of Health Professions.  Hiring contingent on available budget resources.

Director of Nursing Education Program oversees the strategic goals and day to day operations of the academic program for the associate degree nursing and practical nursing options.  The Director supervises recruits, evaluates, and recommends for hire program personnel.  The Director is responsible for maintaining accreditation and compliance with all pertinent regulations relative to the nursing program. Among primary job objectives, the Director of Nursing Education is the center of the relationship with clinical sites and with matriculated students.

Sample of Specific Duties:

  • Ensures the integrity of the nursing curricular offerings and services within the framework of Academic Affairs.  Ensures ongoing programmatic accreditation and compliance with regulations promulgated by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing (BORN) and Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
  • Develops a recommended annual capital and operating budget.  Administers approved budget.
  • Initiates nursing personnel searches, selects and recommends candidates for hire. Supervises, guides and mentors nursing faculty members to achieve their highest potential in providing quality instruction.
  • Develops nursing courses for master schedule; assigns teaching workload to cover all courses.
  • Ensures curricular content in compliance with ACEN, BORN and current practice.  Incorporates College mission, teaching and learning initiatives in nursing curriculum.
  • Represents the Nursing Program to internal and external entities.
  • Collaborates with other departments and college programs for student recruitment and successful student retention.
  • Collaborates with college staff in preparing grant proposals, reports and summaries for internal and external agencies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

An earned Master’s degree in nursing or an earned entry level Doctorate in nursing from a regionally accredited institution required. Must have a current Massachusetts Registered Nursing License in good standing. Must have a minimum of five years full time nursing experience, or its equivalent, within the last eight years, with at least three years’ experience in nursing education. Maintain expertise appropriate to administrative responsibilities. Excellent teamwork, communication and organizational skills. Demonstrate initiative and flexibility to accommodate to program and college needs in fulfillment of learning objectives.  Three years of full-time teaching experience in a community college setting or the equivalent of part-time experience. Strong practice background required. Must have excellent technical/computer skills.

  • Previous teaching experience in the Massachusetts Community College
  • .Terminal degree in nursing


Salary: Anticipated starting salary $75,000.00 – $95,162.00 annually, commensurate with education and experience. With a complete fringe benefit package.
