Detailed Job Description
The Regional Director of Financial Aid is responsible for providing leadership and guidance to the Regional Financial Aid Staff. The Regional Director will directly supervise the Financial Aid Coordinator, Financial Aid Counselors, Financial Aid Classified employees, and designated student employees. The Director will oversee day-to-day office operations and is responsible for overall customer service and staff training at the Regional Campuses located in Hamilton and Middletown.
In addition to serving as the leader of Regional Financial Aid operations, the Regional Director will advise and counsel prospective and current students and families on federal, state, and private funding for college; conduct file review, using professional judgment as to dependency overrides and other adjustments to aid packages; coordinate the Regional scholarship process; promote financial aid opportunities through campus and community programs; coordinate processing of aid in conjunction with the Oxford Campus Office of Student Financial Assistance, and provide student assistance through credit memos, book vouchers, etc.
Provide leadership and guidance to the Regional Financial Aid Staff.
Manage all Regional financial aid operations with travel to the Middletown campus one or two times weekly.
Supervise financial aid unclassified staff, classified staff, and student employees.
Provide long-term planning for the direction of the Regional Financial Aid Office.
Provide data for annual reports.
Plan and collaborate with other University offices when appropriate.
Coordinate staff meetings and training opportunities.
Serve on University committees when appropriate.
Counsel students and their families regarding state, federal, university, and private funding programs.
Assist students and their families in the understanding of financial aid paperwork and the application process.
Process special circumstance requests, dependency overrides, and other adjustments to the aid package.
Responsible for coordinating scholarship program and awards.
Promote financial aid opportunities externally through presentations in the community and at local schools.
Promote financial aid opportunities internally to students on campus through workshops and announcements.
Responsible for reviewing financial publications and website information.
Act as liaison to the Oxford Campus Office of Student Financial Assistance by attending weekly and quarterly meetings.
Act as the regional campus resource on financial aid issues and keep the campus community informed of financial aid processes and procedures.
Provide accurate, friendly, efficient customer service to clients.
Track student progress and resolve financial aid problems using SCT Banner computer applications.
Participate in university training programs and staff meetings.
Perform both local travel and evening work as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree; minimum of five years experience working in the financial aid profession with increasing responsibility; two to three years prior supervisory experience; in-depth knowledge of federal financial aid regulations; experience with the scholarship awarding process; strong communication skills (oral and written); excellent interpersonal organizational and planning skills.
Master's degree preferred; familiarity with Banner software a plus.
