The Carolyn Guidry Professor of Engineering Education will be a senior faculty member (associate or full professor) who is a national leader in engineering education and higher education research, and possess expertise in developing innovative approaches to teaching engineering. The selected candidate will provide leadership in engineering education to the members of the college.
Rank: Associate or full Professor
Qualifications: An earned Ph.D. in an engineering discipline and significant experience in engineering education research, or a Ph.D. in engineering education with a minimum of a BS degree in an engineering discipline is required. A strong record of scholarship, teaching and professional achievement sufficient to merit a tenured appointment at advanced rank is also required. Applicants should have awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching, and other comparable experience.
Responsibilities: The selected candidate will conduct research in approaches and strategies for teaching engineering, resulting in development and implementation of best practices for retention and learning outcomes for engineering students. S/He will also work closely with faculty and staff in the Engineering Student Success Center to analyze, design, and implement student success programs. The successful candidate will also teach in his/her specialty areas and advise undergraduate and graduate engineering students.
Salary Range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Starting Date: August 18, 2015
