Detailed Job Description

The Assistant Director for Occupational Skills is responsible for planning, oversight, implementation, program development, tracking enrollment, marketing and evaluation of programs encompassing apprenticeship (2 electrical, low-voltage, HVAC and plumbing), correctional education, open enrollment (distance education, welding, CDL A, B, Passenger Bus and HVAC technician) and other related occupational training programs and courses. The Assistant Director will oversee the hiring, supervising and evaluating of noncredit faculty and other employees directly related to special projects within the School of Continuing and Professional Studies. Additionally, this position will assist with the coordination of the scheduling, staffing, student registration, grade posting, attendance, budget management, web page management and the logistics associated with departmental programs. Through environmental scanning, internal collaboration and college outreach this position is responsible for cultivating new markets with an emphasis on creating strong and viable programs that meet community needs.  

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in Adult Education or related field required.

Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in administering or developing education programs to include two years of supervisory experience required, preferably in an occupational adult education in a community college setting.

Experience with computers including familiarity with Microsoft Office required.

Experience in fiscal planning and budget management. Ability to develop, market, implement, and evaluate programs required.

Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability and willingness to make public presentations required.

Proven commitment to providing excellent customer service, collaborative management and team building.

Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate the needs of the program, including some evenings and weekends.

Ability to deal effectively and in partnership with diverse groups, including students, faculty, administrators, staff, the educational community, the business community, governmental agencies and the public.
