The Department of Sociology, Social Work and Anthropology at Utah State University (USU) invites applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor at the USU Brigham City Regional Campus in Brigham City, Utah.
Position: This is a nine-month, tenure track appointment with USU’s social work program (MSW and BSW degrees) in Northern Utah. The position begins August of 2015 (possible summer month in 2015), with a role assignment of 75% teaching, supervising, and advising; 15% scholarship; and 10% service. Renewal of employment will occur annually, assuming acceptable performance of the role assignment and ongoing funding for the position.
Academic Setting: The Social Work Program offers a CSWE-accredited bachelor’s degree in a dynamic interdisciplinary department as well as a full-time and part-time MSW program. USU is a Land Grant, Space Grant, and Carnegie Research Doctoral-Extensive university of about 25,000 students. USU Brigham City Regional Campus: Utah State University began offering classes in Brigham City in the 1980’s. The Brigham City Campus enjoyed success growing to its present student body of over 1,000 students. The campus has 13 full time faculty, 30 technologically enhanced classrooms, a day care center and a student center with full advising and student services available. USU Brigham City offers 22 bachelors, including the BSW, and 13 master’s degrees, as well as preparing students to transfer to the main campus in Logan. Brigham City Community: The community of Brigham City is located 60 miles north of Salt Lake City, Utah and 27 miles south of Logan, Utah. Brigham City, with a population of nearly 20,000, is the hub of Box Elder County the home of the Golden Spike National Historical site, the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge, and the annual Peach Days Celebration. Brigham City has a unique set of community and recreational opportunities as well as excellent public schools.
1) Teach courses in BSW and MSW programs, 2) advise undergraduate and graduate students; 3) supervise practicum placements regionally, 4) engage in scholarship and professional productivity, and 5) provide service to the department, the USU Brigham City Regional Campus, and the social work profession.
1) An MSW from a CSWE-accredited social work program
2) Two years post-MSW practice experience
3) An earned doctorate (PhD or DSW) in social work or closely related field at the time of appointment
4) Ability to teach graduate and undergraduate social work courses utilizing distance education technology
5) Ability to travel regionally throughout Northern Utah
1) Experience teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels
2) CSW or LCSW, and eligibility for Utah state licensure
3) Teaching experience with distance education technology
