PART-TIME TECHNICAL ASSISTANT II, ACADEMIC PLACEMENT AND TESTING – LAWRENCE CAMPUS: (Academic Services) 20 hour per week. Monday 2:30 PM – 8:00 PM, Tuesday through Thursday 1:30 – 7:00 PM. Occasional Saturdays may be required. (AFSCME Unit) Anticipated start date: October, 2014
This position will be based in the Academic Placement and Testing Center, Lawrence Campus. Greet and assist all students who require testing. Administer and proctor tests including Accuplacer state-mandated assessments, English as a Second Language and Health Professions Testing. Assist in the administration of other test services such as proctored and remote testing, accommodated testing, assessments for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students and other testing as necessary. Participate in special assessments which may require occasional weekend, early morning and off-site sessions. This position will provide coverage in the afternoons and into the early evenings to answer general walk-in and phone inquiries, assist students, proctor tests and to close the office. Other responsibilities include light data entry, generating mailings, placing orders and other light office work as necessary.
One to two years of full-time office experience or equivalent part-time experience required. Associate’s Degree in Human Services, Education or related field preferred. Must have working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office. Strong verbal and organizational skills as well as the ability to pay attention to detail required. Must be comfortable giving detailed instructions to small groups and on an individual, walk-in basis in order to clearly communicate testing instructions. Must be able to work in a fast-paced, team oriented environment with the ability to multi-task. Must be able to demonstrate sensitivity, patience and have a customer-service friendly attitude to first-time college students from a wide variety of backgrounds. Knowledge of registration, advising and other college policies, procedures preferred. Experience with college entrance assessment, Accuplacer and other test systems strongly preferred. Knowledge of Banner Information System preferred. Bilingual – English/Spanish strongly preferred.
Salary: $359.31 - $486.74 weekly ($18,684.12 - $25,310.48 annually) with pro-rated fringe benefits. An appointment from outside the bargaining unit (AFSCME) must start at Step I of the range. (Step 1: $359.31)
