Enforces local, state, and federal laws and ensures compliance with University policies. Provides security for personnel, real property, and equipment. Investigates and documents crimes/incidents, documents and preserves evidence, and provides legal testimony. May be assigned to any shift. May perform campus patrol or serve as substation, victim/witness assistance, or crime prevention officer.
Graduation from a standard senior high school or the equivalent AND P.O.S.T graduate. Applicant must be currently Certified Law Enforcement Officer or certifiable as a State of Utah Law Enforcement Officer. Applicants with contingent offer will be subjected to a psychological test and thorough background check
Must meet all of the Utah requirements for admission to basic law enforcement training programs found at http://publicsafety.utah.gov/post/
Knowledge of Utah Code, local laws and ordinances.
Knowledge of investigative tactics, information sources, and productive line of inquiry.
Skill in the use of firearms, the operation of police vehicles and equipment.
Skill in interpersonal communication.
Skill in problem solving.
Able to run and walk around campus to protect all personnel and property.
Ability to perform physical exertion duties of a hazardous nature.
Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle at high speed, pursuit situations, and in adverse conditions while maintaining a safe operation.
Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group or individuals.
Ability to effectively work in highly stressful situations.
Ability to maintain control in high stress situations.-Ability to read and comprehend legal and non-legal documents.
Ability to direct traffic, administer emergency medical aid, lift, drag and carry people away from dangerous situations.
