Under the direction of the Assistant Library Director – Public Services, manages the Access Services Department including, circulation, reserve, and inter-library loan as well as coordinates library services to branch campus libraries. Provides professional reference service to students and faculty from a variety of educational backgrounds, conducts information literacy instruction sessions to diverse populations, oversees collection development for assigned areas, and manage other assigned library services to support a comprehensive, open-enrollment university.
Graduation from an accredited ALA library college or university with a master’s of Library Science degree is required. Additional graduate study and/or professional experience in library science or related fields and computer-related library operations helpful.
Graduation from an American Library Association accredited institution with a Masters of Library Science degree..
At least two years of supervisory experience in an access services area is preferred.
Knowledge of current library and educational trends.
Knowledge of the use and content of reference sources as well as ability to match a wide variety of user needs with appropriate resources.
Knowledge of methods in the evaluation and selection of print and non-print sources.
Knowledge of library public service operations, such as circulation, reserve, and inter-library loan.
Proficiency in the use of computers, peripherals, and software applications, such as the Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to assist patrons with their use.
Ability to supervise and lead employees in a productive, highly-visible, and innovative service area.
Ability to coordinate library services with other departments at branch campus libraries.
Ability to develop new ideas and contribute to library improvements and outreach efforts.
Ability to be self-directed and meet deadlines.
Ability to provide formal instruction in a variety of settings based on information literacy theories.
Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
Ability to work flexibly and creatively with students and faculty from diverse backgrounds.
