Meets with business owners in Wasatch and Utah County to provide guidance and help with business challenges and questions. Gives counsel about business operations, marketing, financials, human resources, state legal and regulator compliance, and other business topics. Works within Utah Small Business Development Center Network regulations and requirements. Enters records and reports into Center IC computer program. Assists business owners to gain access to capital, increase the business profitability, and grow their management skills.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a master’s degree in Counseling and Guidance, Educational Psychology, Social Work, or related Social Science field and two years of full time professional employment related to the Summary of Duties or any combination of education and experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling six years.
Preferred former SBDC counselor experience in Utah or other states.
Preferred knowledge of and experience with the business environment of Wasatch County.
Knowledge of business operations, marketing, financials, human resources, state legal and regulator compliance, and other business topics. Knowledge of Utah SBDC Network policy and procedures.
Knowledge of SBA guidelines and requirements for Utah.
Skill in giving relevant counsel about various business functions including operations, marketing, financials, human resources, state legal and regulator compliance, and other business areas.
Skill in Center IC computer program.
Skill in financial analysis, creation of spreadsheets and material for loan packages. Skill in creating marketing materials and activities as well as pitches for various business needs.
Ability to teach and assist business owners to implement fundamental business concepts.
Ability to help business owners creatively solve problems while interacting with a variety of people and situations in a professional manner. Ability to build relationships with local credit unions, banks, other lenders or investors, community organizations, and industry, geographic, or municipal organizations is necessary.
