Detailed Job Description
Design and deliver training and development to faculty to enhance their ability to use internet technology to support their teaching, in fully-online, hybrid or web-enhanced modalities. Provide coordination and support for international elearning. Provide instructional technology services and support.
Design training and development resources, modules, online course and workshops for faculty to enhance their ability to use internet technology to support their teaching. Curate and develop learning materials on teaching with technology, coordinating with other staff such as videographers and multimedia developers.
Design and deliver workshops and one-on-one training for faculty on how to use technology to teach, supporting higher order thinking, community and engagement.
Coordinate special events such as faculty workshops, open houses, and other functions that promote and expand the integration of technology into the classroom and to develop and enhance online courseware.
Coordinate and provide support for global eLearning initiatives and courses, coordinating with faculty, administrative and technical staff within Miami and in other universities and schools. Identify student issues and design and develop solutions that support student learning and success.
Manage projects within Advanced Learning Technologies (ALT) and the eLearning Office.
Maintain collaborative relationships with faculty and staff.
Participate in assessment of teaching including Small Group Instructional Diagnoses and other methods. Participate in the development of data analytics and metrics in support of online and hybrid teaching.
Identify and evaluate new technology and initiatives internal and external to the University.
Collaborate with faculty and staff on research activities examining the online and hybrid teaching issues
Research industry trends related to the instructional mission, and evaluate and learn to use new technologies that support teaching and learning. Participate in professional development activities and cross-functional projects. Provide input for continuous improvement of ALT and eLearning Office operations.
Actively support team collaboration among members of ALT and the eLearning Office, and promote a customer-oriented approach.
Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
Bachelor's degree instructional design, education or related area, and 1-2 years of experience planning, designing, and delivering faculty training or development
Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience providing the knowledge/skills/abilities listed above may be substituted.
Knowledge of and/or experience with Sakai or Canvas, Miami's Learning Management Systems.
Ability to describe, teach and apply knowledge of instructional design that supports engagement and higher order thinking.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including communicating technical information in terms understandable to faculty and students.
Customer service skills; including diplomatically, patiently, and successfully handling complaints, problems, questions, conflict, and suggestions. Proven ability to build effective relationships with faculty and team members.
Ability and willingness to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Ability to take initiative, problem-solve, and design solutions to instructional problems.
Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously, and to complete projects within a specified timeline.
Master's degree preferred or equivalent in education in instructional design, education or related area.
Knowledge of and experience with emerging multimedia, mobile and other technologies as related to the instructional mission.
Knowledge of student needs for learning and support, particularly in cross-cultural learning environments.
