Detailed Job Description
The E-Learning Design and Support Specialist will work on the E-Learning implementation projects; provide training, training materials and front-end support for faculty technology needs; function as an instructional designer with faculty developing online and hybrid courses; keep current on educational technology; oversee and assist with implementation of small projects within the E-Learning department; work collaboratively with Technology Services on the regional campuses and Advanced Learning Technologies (ALT) in Oxford; and complete Quality Matters training and administer course checks. Perform graphic design and format web pages using Adobe Creative Suite (or other HTML coding application); Receive direction from e-learning staff and instructors to create course components (assessments, assignments, interactions, gradebook items) utilizing tools in the Learning Management System based on best practices and technical standards; Oversee multiple projects and timelines and ensure they are on-track for successful completion. Perform online and institutional research to aggregate data into final reports to be used in the ongoing accreditation, compliance, and initiative expansion. Analyze, design, and develop instructional materials for existing and new initiatives in accordance with standards and specifications required for online pedagogical best practices. Produce technical written projects that are clear, concise, appropriately detailed, and understandable by diverse audiences of faculty and staff. Utilizes proper grammar, punctuation, spelling, and follows language rules. Ensures consistent application of styles and established layout plans. Ensures technical information is accurate. Coordinate training and ongoing communication (via social media, newsletter, blog, listserv) of online part-time faculty and guide them through e-learning orientation and ongoing professional development to ensure pedagogical best practices and student success.
Bachelor's degree; significant instructional design and support experience; teaching and/or training experience; excellent interpersonal skills and team approach; experience with learning management systems; Excellent written and oral communication skills in order to effectively communicate with a wide variety of staff/faculty regarding the publication of information on the web. Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Google Tools, Microsoft Suite, Web-Based Apps, Mobile Technologies, Online Research, and Technical Troubleshooting. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and Learning Management System Tools to create, edit, and manipulate graphical and interactive elements. Strong organization skills with emphasis on being conscientious and detail-oriented. Demonstrate ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work with minimal supervision in a team environment to meet project deadlines.
Master's degree in associated area; familiarity with Sakai, Canvas, Articulate products, Google applications, basic video production and Quality Matters; teaching and/or training experience in K-12 or Higher Ed online; experience with web 2.0 technologies; experience using and/or supporting accessible technologies; knowledge of Section 508 compliance.
