Assists in the physical/operations needs of sports medicine facility under the direction of Head Athletic Trainer. Provides adequate medical coverage for assigned sports teams and visiting teams when necessary. Communicates with coaches and administration regarding the safety and well-being of student-athletes. Supervises clinical activities of student athletic trainers. Assists in providing total wellness of student-athletes, including drug and alcohol education, testing, health insurance coverage, CPR training, etc. Maintains organized medical records and student-athlete documentation. Travels with assigned sports teams when required.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of two years of experience related to the Summary of Duties OR a combination of education and experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling six years.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a Bachelor degree in health, sports medicine, or related field.
Knowledge of indications and contraindications for application of medical modalities and treatment.
Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology biomechanics, correctives, adaptives, and human kinesiology.
Knowledge of standard values for general health of body systems.
Knowledge of mechanism of injury with associated acute/chronic conditions.
Skill in taping, bandaging, splinting etc.
Skill in fit amd application of equipment & medical protective devices.
Skill in the application of electrical modalities & physical therapeutic techniques.
Ability to interact and communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to perform emergency evaluation.
Ability to classify medical conditions utilizing signs/symptoms, and monitor recovery/update treatment protocol.
CERTIFICATION: Current certification with the National Athletic Trainers Association & current CPR/AED & First Aid Certifications, eligible for state of Utah licensure.
