Corporate Communication Position Summary:
Applications are invited for an assistant professor position within the area of corporate communication. We seek a student-focused individual committed to teaching and ongoing scholarship or creative/professional engagement. The candidate should have both theoretical and practical knowledge of corporate communications and specific expertise in areas such as employee communications, stakeholder relations, public relations, persuasion, reputation management, leadership, event planning, and crisis communication. The individual filling this position will contribute to our unique curriculum and department which encompasses the creative and strategic aspects of communications, and will teach courses at all levels, particularly those dealing with communication practices in organizations, communication campaigns, event planning, corporate communication, strategic communication and courses in his or her area of expertise. There is also the opportunity to teach courses at the graduate level, including our Executive Master’s in Communications Innovation program. The successful applicant will join colleagues in creating a lively, engaging environment, take part in shaping an evolving curriculum in one of the strongest undergraduate communication programs in the country, and assist in the design of new courses and curricular opportunities at the graduate and undergraduate levels. All faculty are responsible for creating a first-rate environment for student learning in and out of classes, as well as academic advising; engaging in recognized scholarly, creative, and/or professional work that, where possible, crosses and integrates the various disciplines in our curricula; and serving the department, school, college, and professional community, including committee work.
Required: Master’s degree in corporate communication or related field with significant professional experience. Preferred: Ph.D. in corporate communication or related field. ABD with scheduled completion will be considered. An ideal candidate should also demonstrate evidence of teaching effectiveness appropriate for our students, and of a defined research, creative, or continuing professional development agenda. This position is either tenure-eligible (TE: expectation for consistent peer-reviewed scholarly, creative, and professional accomplishments) or non-tenure eligible (NTE: ongoing professional engagement and development required) depending on the candidate’s qualifications and interests.
