Job Responsibilities

Provides full spectrum individual and group career development and transition services:
•For a diverse client group; dislocated workers, students, veterans, alumni, community members; professionals, paraprofessionals, clerical, and trades and
•To maximize career options; career development support, career and job coaching, career exploration, skills and interest assessments, resume and cover letter writing, job search strategies, focused workshops, etc.

Coordinates and facilitate experiential learning opportunities for students that align with their academic studies. Partners with the Employer Relations Specialist and faculty to identify potential employers that may provide a co-op, internship, part-time employment opportunity for students

Provides direct supervision for Coordinator I including performance management, training and development, oversight of daily workload and priority setting, coordination of scheduling time off and coverage issues, etc.

Supports student success and engagement efforts at the campus by involvement in enrollment activities, retention initiatives, and other campus events and co-sponsorship opportunities with campus divisions and counterparts

Designs and delivers comprehensive development and transition services leveraging the College’s educational support systems; provides linkages to the post-secondary and college credentials, academic and technical training programs, academic counseling, workforce preparation, adult literacy competency, etc.

Provides transition services specifically designed to meet the needs of mature, experienced dislocated workers; professionals, paraprofessionals, trades, and veterans

Provides individual assistance to create customized, long-term career development plans; develop key competencies necessary to make informed decisions, memorialize career development plans, and take the necessary steps to achieve their career goals

Responsible for designing, conducting, maintaining, and insuring the quality of career services workshops related to career exploration, job search strategies, and related topics as appropriate. Updates curriculum and expands offerings as appropriate

Builds and maintains effective relationships with faculty; present career services overview to class groups as a marketing and communications vehicle, deliver abbreviated workshops to academic program classes based on faculty request as appropriate

Conducts proactive outreach to dislocated workers in the student population and area residents via community organizations, non-profit agencies, faith-based groups, etc.; deliver transition services on campus and at off-site locations in the community

Represents Tri-C Career Services to a wide variety of community organizations, professional associations, government agencies, non-profit entities, and partners in higher education; professional presence supporting the College’s marketing brand

Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree

Minimum 3 years work experience demonstrating diverse experience and progressive accountability; talent acquisition, staffing/placement, employee development, career coaching and consulting, outplacement consulting, business education and training, and/or fields related to career development and transition services

Minimum 3 years work experience in private sector or higher education institution in a position of accountability such as: human resources, employee development, recruiting/staffing, talent acquisition or career services/ placement

Demonstrated career services skill set including: job and career coaching, job search strategies, job market trends, employer relations and recruitment methodologies, familiarity with experiential programs and internships services, and the application of technology in the delivery of services

Excellent customer service skills and proven ability to develop and sustain productive client relationships

Demonstrated command of the internet and social networking as an employment sourcing tool

Knowledge of the region’s growth industries, employers, job market, and employment resources
Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills

Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and changing work environment requiring flexibility, sense of urgency, effective teamwork, and an unwavering commitment to diversity and inclusion

Ability to balance demands of multiple work streams and deliver high quality performance outcomes

Sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse population

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in human resources, business administration, adult development, student development or related field

3 years work experience in an entry level supervisory or management position

3 years work experience in higher education career services function

Experience working in diverse industries in the private sector

Work Schedule

Candidate must be willing and able to work at any/all based on fluctuating demand for services
Evening hours (one evening per week) required. Saturday hours (one Saturday per month) required
Candidate must be willing and able to travel in and out of county as needed
