Detailed Job Description

Reporting to the Director of the Center for International Programs, with dotted line accountability to the VP of Enrollment Management,  this position is responsible for the recruitment of international degree-seeking and sponsored students to the College’s undergraduate, graduate, and ESL programs.  The Coordinator will organize and travel internationally to actively participate in recruitment and yield events including tours, fairs, international high school and university visits, U.S. transfer fairs, and visits to sponsored student program managers, as assigned by the Director of the Center for International Programs.                            


  • Engages in travel to U.S. and overseas high schools, college fairs, student conferences, to provide information to prospective students and their parents and promote the College. Work closely with overseas and U.S. high school guidance counselors to aid in the recruitment of prospective undergraduate students.
  • Visits U.S community/junior colleges with large numbers of international students to recruit transfer international students.
  • For undergraduate applications, reviews and evaluates applications for completion, and performs international application credential evaluations to determine equivalency to US educations standards.  Makes admission decisions consistent with Saint Rose admission standards.
  • For graduate applications, assists with credential evaluation and coordination with Graduate Admissions concerning follow-up, to ensure applications are forwarded for faculty review in a timely manner.
  • Participates in developing effective recruitment strategies for international students, including the development of print, online and social media marketing campaigns.
  • Develops, maintains and executes electronic communication plans to prospective and admitted students.
  • Conducts individual counseling with students and parents, including online recruiting events such as webinars and chats, and prepares follow-up correspondence.
  • Monitors all aspects of the international student electronic and traditional application processes.
  • Serves as a Designated School Official (DSO) and Assistant Responsible Office (ARO) with responsibility for issuing initial immigration documents (I-20 and DS-2019), in compliance with federal SEVIS regulations.  Acts as a back-up to the Director in helping current international students with SEVIS matters.
  • Keeps current on College program and degree offerings, including curricular changes that may occur.  Participates in the development of enrollment goals and operational objectives for the Center for International Programs.  Recommends, implements, and administers processes to enhance operations.
  • Assists with organizing and implementing New International Student Orientations.
  • Represents the College at conferences, meetings, and other official functions as assigned by the Director.
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • At least 2 years of admissions experience in higher education; experience in an international recruiting role is preferred. 
  • Demonstrated evidence of recruiting students from a diverse background required.
  • Experience managing a recruitment territory and meeting recruitment goals required.
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident status is required.
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate in person and in writing. Comfort and proven experience speaking in front of groups is essential.
  • Demonstrated skill using technology and social media in recruitment and admissions.
  • Demonstrated record of establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with a wide variety of constituents.
  • Should be self-motivated; possess high energy, attention to detail, and the ability to organize effectively.
  • A valid driver’s license and passport are required as well the flexibility to travel internationally for periods of 10 days or more 3-4 times per year.
  • Flexibility of schedule, as occasional evening and weekend hours are expected.
  • Fluency in one or more languages other than English is preferred, and experience working with foreign embassies, universities, or non-governmental organizations is also preferred.

Additional Information:

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, Full time, Full year
Salary: beginning at $37,000 depending upon experience

This position requires flexibility of schedule to include frequent international travel, evening and weekend hours, especially during the recruitment season of September-May.
