PART-TIME ESOL COORDINATOR - CENTER FOR ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAMS AND PRACTITIONERS: (Lawrence Campus/Riverwalk) 18.75 hours (may be increased with additional projects) per week. Monday – Thursday. (MCCC/MTA Unit Position) Anticipated Start Date: September, 2014

  • Coordinate DESE-funded ESOL, Adult Career Pathway initiatives and BESL classes.
  • Student Recruitment - use media- social, newspaper, cable TV, radio; flyers
  • Coordinate/facilitate student intake and orientation meetings.
  • Supervise instructors; including bi-annual classroom observation/written evaluation.
  • Facilitate staff development including common planning time and staff meetings.
  • Guide instructors in selecting instructional resources, supplies and textbooks.
  • Lead curriculum development process utilizing the MA ESOL Frameworks and the College and Career Readiness Standards.
  • Work with Education and Career Advisor (ECA) to conduct pre and post-assessment for new and returning students and “follow up” with students re: attendance issues, etc.
  • Collaborate with Instructors and ECA to develop and implement the program’s continuous improvement plan.
  • Work closely with Data Analyst for SMARTT data entry; provide accurate and timely program information;.
  • Meet with administrative assistant monthly to order supplies, review expenditures, scheduling, reserve classrooms, plan events and field trips.
  • Work with ABE, Transition and Bridge Coordinators to establish a program advisory council; jointly facilitate 3 advisory council meetings per year.
  • Attend partnership meetings to represent the CAEPP; alternate attendance with CAEPP Coordinators and Executive Director.
  • Facilitate DL component; as DL Coach participate in training of the approved curriculum product(s); regularly scheduled conference calls/webinars with the State DL Coordinator; attend the annual DL Summit.
  • Maintain good working relationships with ALC Directors, advisors and instructors to encourage next steps for students; develop MOAs as needed.
  • Participate in monthly Coordinator meetings with Executive Director;
  •  Work afternoon and evening hours; and flexibility to attend occasional day-time meetings.

Salary: $26.00 - $27.00 per hour with pro-rated fringe benefits.
