Under the direction of the Turning Point/Center for Personal and Career Development Director, plans, prepares and follows an approved course of study for courses taught in Professional Development. Instructs and supervises groups in classrooms through demonstration discussion, visual aid, lectures and other appropriate methods. Assists department staff in maintaining an effective program. Attends staff and training meetings as assigned.
Requires graduation from an accredited institution with an associate’s degree plus 2 years of experience in a related field.
Bachelor’s degree and 2-5 years experience teaching related course(s)preferred.
Background in behavioral science, social work, psychology or related field preferred.
Spanish speaking preferred.
Knowledge of subject matter and content of classes taught, to include Successful Life Management (Personal Development and Career Development), Anger Management, Parenting, Marriage Enrichment and/or Marriage Preparation.
Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques.
Knowledge of value/belief systems, resiliencies, distorted thought patterns, informational interviewing, resume building and interview skills.
Skill in presenting material to adult learners in creative and engaging manner.
Skill in curriculum development.
Skill in interpersonal communication, problem solving and decision-making.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
