INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGNER-ENROLLMENT SERVICES & LIFE MAP (GRANT-FUNDED) (REPOSTED)

The College’s Title III project, From Dreams to Reality: BHCC LifeMap, has an overarching goal of improving student engagement, achievement, and persistence to degree completion. Underpinning the project is the BHCC LifeMap Framework composed of six interlocking elements that provide success pathways infused throughout the curriculum and student support services. The LifeMap initiative assists students in developing educational, career and life plans.  Key LifeMap processes -- including educational planning, financial literacy, and career exploration – are integrated into teaching and learning to help students define and realize their goals.

The Instructional Designer will play a key role by providing consultation and support for instructional design with a focus on learner-centered instruction and assessment.  The Instructional Designer will work with departmental design teams to design, pilot, and implement the integration of the LifeMap Framework across the curriculum. The position supports the College’s work to integrate the LifeMap framework into the teaching and learning environment.

  • Consult with faculty on course design & teaching strategies;
  • Design and provide faculty development activities, including summer institutes that focus
  • on teaching practices and the construction of resources that have been shown to enhance student learning and success;
  • Research innovative trends and best practices in the use of instructional resources and technologies;
  • Adopt additional learner-centered approaches to teaching and learning;
  • Act as internal consultant for faculty design teams for curriculum integration;
  • Serve as liaison to LifeMap Commons.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field;
  • Knowledge of instructional design principles and teaching pedagogies;
  • Experience designing course content, learning activities and assessments;
  • Experience developing student-centered approaches for teaching and learning in higher education (e.g., flipped classroom, blended learning, accelerated learning, and contextualization);
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff and student population.

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in instructional design or related field
  • 2+ years teaching experience in higher education, preferably at a community college
  • Formative and summative assessment expertise; experience using e-portfolio as an assessment tool

 Additional Information: Grant Funded Position: This is a grant-funded position under a 5-year Title III grant.

Salary: $62,000.00/yr.
