Detailed Job Description

This position provides professional administrative support and coordination for student mobility programs and advisors at Miami University including triage advising, document approvals, virtual advising and consulting, and serving as a critical resource for international students and scholars, study abroad students, and faculty program leaders.


Supervise the front line of the Global Initiatives Advising Center.

Serve as triage advisor. Schedule advising appointments for study abroad, international students and scholars, and continuing education. Maintain accurate and complete records of activity.

Respond or refer entity e-mail to resolution.

Disseminate and collect immigration, visa, and study abroad documents, deposits, and payments.

Respond to inquiries via telephone, e-mail, instant message, Skype, and social media regarding housing, banking, transportation, insurance, risk management forms, etc. Refer questions as needed; advise and consult as needed; follow up to resolution.

Passport Acceptance Agent

Designated School Official (DSO) under the supervision of the Assistant Director, ISSS.

Gather and analyze statistical information and produce reports.

General office management tasks as needed, including student employee supervision and training, monitoring and updating resource bulletin boards, and maintain accessible resources and information for international students and scholars, study abroad students, and faculty program leaders.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or combination of relevant education and experience.

U.S. Citizen or permanent resident

Current Notary Public, State of Ohio, or qualified to obtain license.

Exceptional customer service skills and demonstrated student-centered approach

Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Access (or FileMakerPro), and PowerPoint

Excellent time management, organization, and communication (verbal and written) skills, including ability to maintain composure under pressure.

Ability to communicate and work with the diverse population of learners; culturally competent

Ability to manage complex and multiple tasks with minimal supervision

Supervision experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in international education, study abroad, or provider setting

Prior experience living or working abroad

Familiarity with Banner, Sunapsis, and/or StudioAbroad

Pay Range

$38,000   - $38,000
