Detailed Job Description
Specific duties and responsibilities include: budget oversight; curriculum development and implementation; recruitment and professional development of faculty (including promotion and tenure recommendations); recommendations to the Dean for faculty teaching and workload assignments, and for faculty and unclassified staff merit-based salary increases; hiring and supervision of staff; management of departmental office operations; communication of University and College policies and practices to the department; representation of the department to the College, University, and broader publics.
The position requires a Ph.D., tenure in the Department of History at Miami University, and the rank of full professor. An excellent record of accomplishment in teaching and research, and administrative experiences suggesting a demonstrated ability to lead an academic department, are also required.
