Detailed Job Description
Provide leadership in development and implementation of comprehensive reading and study program. This is a full-time, 12 month position.
Student Services (Hamilton Campus) Office of Learning Assistance: Reading Specialist to provide leadership in development and implementation of a comprehensive reading program; teach section(s) of EDT002: College Reading II, EDT110r: Learning Strategy/College Success, ENG151: Critical Reading; coordinate curriculum and instructional development for EDT002, END110r, and ENG151; supervise, train and provide professional development for part-time instructors of reading and study skills courses; coordinate the College Readiness Program serving as the primary liaison to ABLE; design and develop paired reading workshops or courses, online courses, and/or hybrid reading and study skills courses; conduct research as it relates to the reading program and the learning assistance field; counsel and advise a variety of students including students in the college readiness program, students placing into developmental course, and/or students on academic probation or warning by developing individualized educational plans with specific objectives related to coursework and coping strategies for graduation in conjunction with other campus resources; investigate, locate, and secure grant opportunities; assist with the delivery of study skills workshops; assist with the administration, hiring, and supervision of student tutors and tutoring program; assist training peer tutors through instruction of EDT310: Methods of Tutoring Adults; document all contacts with students; prepare reports for director of learning assistance pertaining to position responsibilities and program effectiveness; perform other duties as assigned by the director of learning assistance.
Master's degree in reading or related field; experience working with post-secondary students.
Previous work experience in developmental education, college teaching, and experience working with high-risk students.
