The primary responsibility of these faculty members will be to establish and maintain high-quality
research programs, with secondary responsibilities for teaching general physiology to first-year veterinary
students. We are seeking a candidate with research interests in one or more of the research focus areas of the
college: Regenerative Medicine (e.g. stem cell physiology, tissue repair), Inflammatory/Regulatory Disorders , ,
or Infectious Diseases. Work at the interface of these focus areas, as well as that with a translational medicine
emphasis, is desired. Candidates with experience in stem cell physiology or tissue repair pathophysiology are
especially encouraged to apply. Opportunities to develop independent and collaborative research programs
exist both within the college and with other life sciences-oriented departments, colleges, and Institutes on
campus. Excellent collaborative opportunities also are available within the newly-formed Virginia Tech/Wake
Forest Center for Veterinary Regenerative Medicine. Opportunities for instructional participation are available at
the graduate level and can be tailored to the candidates’ interests and expertise. Excellent opportunities also
exist to mentor and train Ph.D. students.
