Under the direction of the Department Chair, teaches one of more of the following classes. Personal Health and Wellness, Principles of Community Health, Women’s Health, Modifying Health Behaviors, and other classes relating to departmental degree tracks. This position is expected to develop and maintain a positive learning environment and support activities that provide opportunities for students to develop their fullest potential and achieve their learning objectives. Supports and seeks to fulfill the guiding concepts for the university which are embodied in UVU’s Mission.
Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a doctorate degree in a related field to the coursework being taught or master’s degree plus two years of experience in a related discipline. Demonstrated successful teaching at the college or university level is required.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a master’s degree or doctorate in Community Health or a related field. Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) preferred and experience in community health desirable.
Evidence of involvement in professional organizations and associations.
Knowledge of community health programs and course content.
Knowledge of program and curriculum development. Knowledge of measurement, evaluation and research.
Experience using multimedia software and hardware in a classroom environment.
Excellent time management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Skill in student management, motivation and evaluation.
Skill in a multimedia classroom environment
Skill in interpersonal communication, problem solving and decision making.
Skill in effective instructional strategies and techniques
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to motivate students.
Ability to develop and teach university level courses.
Candidate should have no expectation of this position lasting longer than one year.
