Detailed Job Description

The Internship and Job Developer is responsible for developing relationships with employers to broaden the bench of opportunities for student internships, relevant job openings within companies, government agencies and other organizations locally and regionally. The incumbent will market programs and students to prospective employers for internship and employment opportunities.

Initiates and maintains ongoing personal contacts with a variety of business and industry representatives and job placement/training agencies to promote programs for participant placement;

Makes cold calls to potential employers; explains the benefits and employment support services provided by programs to employers, including addressing employer's special needs;

Researches Internet, newspapers, agencies, and other resources for internship and job leads;

Locates internship and/or jobs opportunities for students who have successfully completed the application process;

Collects data from employers related to job orders including job requirements and skills; matches job skills with applicant qualifications; refers qualified applicants to employers and conducts necessary follow-up when applicants are placed in positions;

Monitors and promotes local and regional job fairs and Internet resources to students;

Participates in outreach and recruitment activities by coordinating and attending job fairs;

Researches various resume programs;

Assists participants in assessing their job skills for internships and job positions;

Administers and scores standard career assessments; instructs in internship/job seeking, application procedures, resume writing, interview preparation and job retention skills and attitudes; assists participants in preparing job search portfolio; provides job search/career information workshops and presentations;

Develops and delivers information sessions to help students learn about Cybersecurity careers and how to prepare for them;

Provides labor market and community resource information;

Monitors participant performance on the internship or job and counsels participants when performance is not satisfactory; works with participants to improve job performance and gain necessary job skills or reviews other employment options;

Maintains contact with employers during the participants' internship/employment and reports results to appropriate staff;

Prepares forms and reports related to internship/placement activities;

Tracks participant activity and progress data;

Other duties as assigned.  

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Education, Business Management, Human Services or a related field required. Master's degree preferred.

Two years of experience providing case management, job development or student support services preferred.

Excellent computer skills required, including proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Access required; experience with Power Point preferred.

Ability to deal sensitively and tactfully with diverse populations, students, faculty, administrators, governmental agencies, business and industry representatives, community organizations and the general public required.

Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with attention to details and deadlines required.

Ability to maintain accurate records and attend to detail required.

Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills required.
