Counsels students regarding educational and disability accommodative issues applicable under Federal/State law including, but not limited to, the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended. Collects and evaluates educational, psychological, medical, career, and vocational diagnostic information, as provided by the student or others to determine student service eligibility
Graduation from an accredited institution with a master’s degree in Counseling & Guidance, Educational Psychology, Social Work, or related Social Science field and two years of full time professional employment related to the Summary of Duties.
Knowledge of medical and/or psychological conditions.
Knowledge academic counseling.
Knowledge of educational accommodations and plans to assist individuals with disabilities.
Knowledge how to interpret educational, vocational, and/or career assessments.
Knowledge of limitations of learning disabilities of a wide variety of disability conditions, including cognitive learning styles.
Knowledge of the American Disabilities Act (1990), Vocational Rehabilitation Act Section 504 (1973), GRAMA, FERPA, and other federal and state statutes.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work with individuals and departments to assess and reconcile work/academic situations.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
