Job Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Negotiating, drafting and closing commercial transactions involving a vast array of business and legal issues

Advising clients on alternatives for achieving business objectives

Collaborating extensively with other in-house legal staff, clients, Office of the Ohio Attorney General and/or outside legal counsel
Taking on diverse projects from General Counsel as assigned

Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
• J.D. with outstanding academic performance

• Two to four years of strong commercial law experience with a law firm or in-house legal department

• Demonstrated track record of negotiating and drafting commercial contracts

• Member of the Ohio bar

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

• Recognized ability to provide proactive and practical legal support to College clients

• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

• Excellent analytical and counseling skills, as well as sound judgment

• Innovative and skilled at managing multiple projects at once, working under pressure and meeting deadlines

• Proven leadership ability as well as the ability to work as a member of a team, both with business clients and within a legal organization

• Demonstrated ability to successfully interact with a diverse population of clients

• Skilled at leveraging technology to improve both the quality and the quantity of legal work conducted

• Sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse population

Preferred Qualifications

PERFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
(Or equivalent job-related experience providing the necessary knowledge, skill, and abilities to perform the functions of this position proficiently)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
• Experience with Higher Education laws, the Ohio Sunshine Laws and/or the Ohio Public Records Act

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

• Good knowledge of contract authoring and management software

• Strong technology skills including keyboarding, word processing (MS Word), spreadsheet applications (MS Excel), MS PowerPoint, Amicus Attorney or like case management program

• Skilled presenter

Work Schedule

8:30am to 5:30pm Monday through Friday, occasional evenings/weekends based on need
