Tenure-track Assistant Professor Position in Advertising
The University of Florida’s College of Journalism and Communications invites applications for a nine-month tenure-track Assistant Professor with expertise in advertising to begin January or August 2015. Special consideration will be given to candidates who have ability to teach and/or research in digital or social media.
Qualifications: The candidate must have a Ph.D. in communication or related field and a record of or potential for original research in advertising, health communication, or relevant field. ABD applicants will be considered with an effective research record and teaching experience, and the expectation of completion of a Ph.D. degree by August 2015. The University is particularly interested in recruiting diverse candidates to meet the needs of its diverse student population.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate is expected to teach two courses per semester in graduate and undergraduate level areas of the advertising and/or mass communication curriculum. The faculty member will advise undergraduate and graduate students, engage in governance and other Department and College service activities, contribute to diversity and the internationalization of the College, and conduct scholarly or creative research.

Preference will be given to candidates who present evidence of excellence in teaching, potential to secure internal and external funding, supervising student work toward the completion of theses and dissertations, and willingness to collaborate in research and on funded grants with peer faculty in the College, Media Properties, and across campus. Additional preference will be given to candidates with extensive credentials in distance and online education or executive training.
