Detailed Job Description

The Department of Technical Communication & Media Production at the Metropolitan State College of Denver is seeking applicants for a Tenure Track Faculty position starting Fall 2012.
Teach 12 credit hours per fall and spring semester and maintain 5 office hours per week to include advising/consultation with students. The successful candidate is expected to teach courses such as, but not limited to: Video Production, Video Editing, Communication Law, Mobile and Social Media Communication and other Media Technology courses. The faculty person must serve on departmental, School and College committees and fulfill other service duties as assigned by the department chair. The faculty member must also participate in program and curriculum development, assessment activities and be active in professional development and scholarly activities relevant to the discipline. The successful candidate must be willing to maintain a flexible teaching schedule potentially including evening courses and must have the ability to work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse urban population.

Required Qualifications

The successful candidate must have at minimum, a Master's degree in Technical Communication or a related field plus six years of recent video production experience or a Doctorate degree in Technical Communication or a related field by July 1, 2012.

Preferred Qualifications

Applicant has College level teaching experience at an accredited institution. Applicant has experience with developing course materials, teaching with technology and curriculum development work. Industry experience should include work dealing specifically with video production, editing and script writing. Development experience or demonstrated knowledge of mobile and social media technology would also be a desired hiring variable.
