The Interdisciplinary Studies Program at the University of Texas at Arlington invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Interdisciplinary Studies. Duties include teaching core curriculum and special topics courses, as well as contributing to program development. Applicants should have a PhD (or equivalent), preferably in an interdisciplinary field, and potential for successful interdisciplinary research and publication. Applicants should have a research and pedagogical understanding of interdisciplinarity and its relationship to disciplinary theories and methods. Preference will be given to candidates with a successful teaching and/or publication record.

The Interdisciplinary Studies Program serves an academically and socially diverse group of more than 700 undergraduate students, offering rigorous Bachelors of Arts and Bachelors of Science degree plans. The program’s core curriculum provides students with an interdisciplinary perspective and integrative learning skills. Our students leverage coursework spanning the university’s academic offerings to advance individualized academic and professional goals. The program is currently developing both a Master of Arts and a Master of Science degree in Sustainability Studies, and priority will be given to applicants who present a compelling agenda for developing topical courses that apply interdisciplinary approaches to this or other subject areas. Interdisciplinary Studies is part of the School of Urban and Public Affairs, which offers excellent teaching and research support (http://www.uta.edu/supa/). The University of Texas at Arlington is located between Dallas and Fort Worth, in the heart of the fourth largest metropolitan area in the United States, an ideal setting for research and community service.
