Under the supervision of the Shop Supervisor(s) or the Technical Director, employee will assist in the design, construction, remodeling, or maintenance of theatrical production components in one or more areas of scenery, properties, lights, sound, costumes, makeup, or special effects.
High school diploma or equivalency and four years experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to four years.
Graduation from a standard senior high school or the equivalent and two years of experience in technical direction or event management work; OR any combination of education and/or experience in technical direction or event management work totaling three years.
Knowledge of theatrical design, construction, and maintenance techniques.
Knowledge of appropriate materials to use in theatrical production components.
Skilled with operation and maintenance of shop equipment, tools, supplies, and fabricating equipment.
Ability to estimate and cost theater component materials and labor.
Ability to translate design sketches, patterns, renderings, plots, or blueprints into 3-dimensional form.
Ability to work independently and achieve deadlines.
Ability to take instruction and work well with others in a collaborative environment.
Ability to work under the constraints of a limited budget of both time and money.
Ability to adapt to variable hours.
