Detailed Job Description

Teach 12 semester hours of day and/or evening courses in undergraduate Early Childhood Education (birth to age 8) including ECE foundations, curriculum, assessment and family/community relationships. Must effectively advise, work with and demonstrate sensitivity to the educational needs of students from diverse student populations. Supervision of clinical experiences and/or student teachers will also be required.
The successful candidate must have the ability to:

Work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse urban population.

Work collaboratively with schools and community agencies.

Work effectively with colleagues to develop, evaluate, and teach ECE courses.

Required Qualifications

All but Dissertation in Early Childhood Education or related field.

If you are hired as an ABD please be aware that your doctorate must be completed by the time you apply for tenure or you will be ineligible for tenure.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with children, families and communities in a variety of early childhood settings.

Doctorate in Early Childhood Education. Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching undergraduate foundation and curriculum courses. Minimum of three years teaching (Birth - Kindergarten). Experience teaching early primary children (1st - 3rd grades) also valued. Experience working with children, families and communities in a variety of early childhood settings. Willingness to collaborate in partnerships with preschools, K-6 schools and early childhood agencies. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
