Under administrative direction, promotes commitment to a climate of equity and inclusion through interaction with individuals and agencies. Assists in achieving an open, diverse, and inclusive learning and working environment by developing and providing university-wide education and outreach related to policies, federal, state and local equal opportunity employment laws. Serves as the central point of contact for the institution’s Title IX compliance and manages programs and activities with deputy Title IX coordinators and other campus entities. Investigates complaints of sexual harassment, sexual assault, and relationship violence, as well as other forms of discrimination and harassment. Develops and facilitates institution-wide training programs and activities related to Title VII, Title IX and other equal opportunity programs and initiatives. Responsible for the development, review and distribution of the university’s Affirmative Action Plan.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a master’s degree in a directly related field, and five years of experience related to the summary of duties.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a master’s degree in post-secondary education, public administration, human resource management or other related field and five years of related experience and/or training to the Summary of Duties and responsibilities. J.D. preferred. Experience in Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action, mediation, a relevant area, or equivalency preferred.
Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process.
Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems.
Knowledge of and a broad and substantive understanding of investigations, legal analysis and writing, and litigation processes in the areas of equal opportunity, discrimination law, disability law, and administrative employment processes.
Knowledge of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, the 1991 Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, Affirmative Action, Equal Employment Opportunity, and other applicable laws.
Knowledge of training, conflict resolution and mediation methods.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
