Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences, University of San Diego
The Department of Psychological Sciences at the University of San Diego seeks a tenure-track assistant professor in the area of Biopsychology (Biological Psychology or Physiological Psychology). The department offers an undergraduate major and minor in Psychology and an interdisciplinary major in Behavioral Neuroscience. The successful applicant will be expected to teach upper-division courses including Biopsychology, an advanced research methods lab, and specialty courses in his/her area of expertise, and lower division courses such as Introductory Psychology, Research Methods, or Statistics. The typical teaching load is 3 courses per semester.
The department values a demonstrated commitment to both teaching and research, with a particular interest in applicants whose biopsychology research program utilizes rodent models and involves undergraduate students. The departmental expectation is that the bulk of the research program would primarily be conducted on the USD campus, but the department also encourages collaboration with other laboratories. Candidates with experience working with and mentoring students from diverse backgrounds are especially welcome to apply. All candidates should have completed a Ph.D. in Psychology by June 2015.
